Teaching ExperienceTeaching is my passion! I teach piano to students from kindergarten through middle school, and clarinet to 5th graders and middle schoolers. I have been teaching elementary general music since 2003, so I utilize a lot of general music principals in my private teaching. We sing, dance, drum, and play games. Music is dynamic!
With older students, I utilize the above activities depending on their needs and interests. Students also learn music reading, how to play a variety of styles, improvisation, playing by ear, transposition, composition, and theory.

Performance ExperienceFor 20 years, I have been performing professionally with a folk dance band called Barbelfish Balkan Band, and we play music from Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, and Romania. We play for festivals and folk dance parties in Boulder. I play clarinet, recorder, kaval (a Bulgarian flute), mandolin, guitar, and sing some vocals.
Also, every year that I have taught music, I have had performing choirs made up of 3rd-5th graders. Special ProjectsI have an organization called, Sing the World Green, which offers music camps to elementary and middle school-aged children. We sing songs about caring for the planet, but also "walk the walk" by engaging in environmental volunteerism. To check out our camps, visit www.singitgreen.org
