"Meet the Piano" Classes for Kindergarteners and First Graders
5Before your kindergarten or first grade student begins piano lessons, there are some skills that should be mastered so that he or she can be successful. With these skills in mind, I have developed a class for these young students in which we sing, play games, pretend, move to music, and play hand percussion.
These goal of these activities is to introduce some type of interaction with the piano. It’s not about learning to play properly or read music. The children are getting used to the piano through playful interaction that helps them to gain coordination and strength in their hands, learn their finger numbers, understand the structure of the keyboard, learn their left from their right hand, practice pre-reading skills and pre-composition skills, and develop a strong sense of beat and rhythm.
So, if you have a squirmy 5 through 7-year-old, and you’ve been wondering if they could sit through a piano class, wonder no more! I’ll harness that squirmy energy into fun learning. If you’re thinking about private lessons later, this is a great way for your child to get excited about the piano. Even if you’re not sure about lessons, your child will learn fun music skills and make new friends.
Classes have 4 students. You can let me know you are interested, and I can try to put your child in a class. Or, you can get a group of 4 students together and get started right away!
"Meet the Piano" group classes of 4 cost $15 per lesson per student.
When you begin lessons or a group class, there is a one-time materials fee of $20.
Please make your payment on the first lesson of the month for that month's lessons.
